@Phamous Kitchen for modern Vietnamese

Thankfully the Balmain dining precinct is faring better than their football side the Tigers. With a number of standouts, including the Contemporary Vietnamese restaurant: Phamous Kitchen. Phamous is a licensed venue and it has a modern fitout to match the food they are serving. The staff are passionate about the restaurant which further adds to the experience.

The menu is an intriguing mix of modern Vietnamese with a western influence. All items beautifully presented at the table looking like art on a plate. There are vegetarian and vegan offerings, and also gluten free dishes, making it a good choice for all.

For starters it was a tough decision, lettuce delight, which the Phamous version of san choi bau, chicken Maryland, seared scallop on betel leaf or a range of fresh rolls. The duck rice paper rolls are what took our fancy, a nice fresh option that disappeared very fast.

For something to share we ordered the beautiful Vietnamese Pancake topped with pulled pork sauerkraut, goats curd, mini pickled onions and a delectable BBQ sauce made on site. One of the ingredients in the BBQ sauce being a pomegranade molasses which gave a delicately floral sweetness. This dish being a highlight and a must if visiting Phamous.

We finished the meal with another highlight the slow cooked Wagyu beef served with carrots on top of some cloud like gnocchi. A decent portion, rich with flavour and no knife needed, it pulled apart with the fork. A great winter dish.

Thanks to Phamous for their hospitality and an enjoyable dining experience. Thank you to CPM for introducing us to Phamous and inviting us to sample their modern Vietnamese cuisine.
