Just in time for winter @Strings Premium Noodles

Just in time for winter, Strings premium noodles as the name suggests specialises in quality noodles and some amazing broths(soup). This Vietnamese restaurant is the making of a couple: Simone with the support of her husband. They are not unfamiliar to following a recipe, formerly being pharmacists. Their passion is food and they are following their dream by opening this restaurant.
The restaurant is set up to touch on the origins of the cusine, being vietnamese. The setting is modern and clean. Vietnam itself is cycle centric for transport, the restaurant walls decorated with this in mind.

For starters there were meat skewers, tofu, salads and spring rolls. We are big fans of the Vietnamese style spring rolls and the spring rolls here are at the top of the list. Made fresh on site with a tasty filling and unbelievably crunchy outer shell.

For something larger there are a range of vermicelli noodle salad options and DIY fresh rolls. As this was a cold winters night we could not wait to try the soup options on the menu. As usually the case when visiting a Vietnamese restaurant, the soup servings were large. The 12 hour Pho Bo – rare beef noodle soup as expected was full of flavour, the bone broth was very nice and there were plenty of silky noodles, bean sprouts and herbs to fulfil your hunger.
The Bun Bo Hue has a 10 hour stewed pork and beef bone broth, was extremely impressive and will be my go to and will bring me back when I am craving a bowl of soup to warm me up. This soup was well balanced, with a big hit of flavour and not too spicy. Although if you do like a chilli kick you can add to taste.

Another great soup option, that I haven’t seen in too many restaurants is the Bun Rieu a crab cake and noodle soup, the broth of pork, chicken, prawn and crab, stewed for 10 hours ensuring plenty of flavour. Not short on noodles to fill you up and topped with some crab cakes that have a strong seafood taste.  Might not be for everyone, but if you are adventurous, enjoy a strong crab flavour and are after something different, give it a go. Even if the crab cakes are not for you, the soup is certainly very tasty.

Thanks to Simone for her hospitality, we look forward to returning to savour the flavoursome cusine and especially the amazing soup on offer at Strings.
