Many years ago, we started sharing our food and travel experiences on our personal Facebook pages. We had also dabbled with the food review app urbanspoon. A friend of ours knew we were passionate foodies and suggested we check out the new Zomato food reviewing app, post on Instagram as well as checking into and uploading on Yelp. So it began: we created a joint Insta and Zomato account and our own personal Yelp accounts.
We started taking photos with our phones, picking up a few tips at Insta foodie events. We have since graduated to taking photos with our new favourite camera, the Sony QX100. A compact digital lens that connects to our phones through wifi.
As for reviewing, we enjoyed using the Zomato, Yelp and trip advisor to find places to check out around Sydney and when travelling. We started reviewing to give back, hoping our posts would provide unbiased opinions and tips on places we have visited. We got addicted to the points system on Zomato and reached the top of the Sydney reviews leaderboard, but now, we are more focused on the blog.
We became Yelp elites through our contributions, even attended an elite event ‘beginners guide to blogging’ run by class bunny which has provided me with some info on where to start. It is great to see that there are many liked-minded people in Sydney and a thriving instafoodie, food blogging and reviewing scene in Sydney. It is mind blowing that our Instagram, Zomato, Yelp and Tripadvisor accounts have so much reach with interaction from all over the globe.
We love trying new foods, drinks and events. We love learning and meeting new people. This is our blog, our own perspective and hopefully we can give insight to some of the places we visit and that it will be useful to our subscribers. Please feel free to reach out to us!
